Kaiza Eats // Figaro

Do you ever think about an ideal food day? Not the one where you have endless hours to cook, but a day when you eat out and everything falls into place (your mouth) and it’s delicious? Don’t hate me, but I keep having them at Figaro. In all honesty, I had never bothered to go in all the years I’ve been eating in Los Angeles. And I don’t know if it’s because a drive down Vermont happens once every other blue moon or if I am just insanely picky about quiche (I am).

Either way, I’m all in now and have become particularly obsessed with a sandwich, Le Jambon Beurre. Imagine if you will, a baguette stuffed with thin slices of not-too-salty ham, perfectly salty butter and cornichons… this is the sandwich that makes you remember all the picnics you’ve never had. With every bite it sparks nostalgia for rolling hills, a chilled bottle of Gruner Veltliner and endless summer afternoons spent napping under a tree while warm, full and delightfully in love everything.

It doesn’t matter if you’re more of an indoor cat, I’m telling you this sandwich is good enough to make you want to be outside, even if it’s only in your mind. Not a sandwich person? We’re no longer friends. However, you have other mouthwatering options to choose from—quiche packed with brie, spinach and goat cheese, a classic Quiche Lorraine, mussels in white wine and a killer happy hour, to be exact.

Figaro Bistro is located at 1802 N Vermont Ave Los Angeles, CA
